The race to the Fountain is coming to a close. Who will get there first?

What I Liked:
The plot line. I love the uniqueness of it and the sheer curiosity that is associated with the Fountain of Youth. It is a wide stretch, but Fine pulled it off flawlessly.
The pace. The story is told in a steady, consistent pace that never goes too slow or too fast. I don't like books that are super-speedy or super-slow, so this was right in the middle.
The cover! How can you not like the cover? It's gorgeous! The models look just like what I expect Scarlet and Tristan to look like in real life. Although, I think they used different models for Scarlet, but that's fine because they look alike.
What I Didn't Like:
The Dialogue. It felt very...amateur. I don't know if it's just me, but the constant sarcasm and 'funny' dialogue that mainly transpired between Heather and Gabriel was just too much. It got to the point where I was waiting for some real, meaningful conversation. Did I get it? Not really.
Scarlet (at times). When Gabriel and Heather were being held hostage by Raven, all Scarlet could think about was Gabriel.
'Oh, I have to save Gabriel.'
'Gabriel can't die or else a part of me will die.'
No! Her best friend was also taken and she only mentioned it two times! Two! So, yeah.... that really annoyed me.
Scarlet and Tristan's relationship. It was sweet and cute and all, but when you're constantly mentioning 'love' every time they touch it becomes too much.
Overall, I'm giving Avow a 4/5 because the plot was engaging and action-packed, but the characters were somewhat obnoxious.
This is one of my favorite series. Too bad the characters didn't do it for you. I'm not done with the series yet I'm on the last one. I can't wait to read it. I love Tristan!
ReplyDeleteTristan was my favorite of the two brothers XD he's so sweet!
