The dead walk among the living in 18th century Philadelphia.
Eleanor Fitt is prim, proper, and spunky. She comes from old money, but as her family's wealth starts to crumble because of her mother's superfluous spending, finding a husband for Eleanor becomes her mother's hobby.
But Eleanor has much more dire things to worry about than money. Her brother, Elijah, entered the army and is missing. Struggling with her fatiguing emotions, she goes on a search for Elijah, but she meets some unexpected people along the way. Daniel, sweet and fascinating, rushes into her life like a breath of fresh air and brings along the Spirit Hunters.
The Spirit Hunters have come and are here to stay until every zombie in Philadelphia has been obliterated. Will Eleanor aid them in fighting the undead or succumb to the one who holds her heart in his hand?

I loved this book! I am a huge fan of steampunk and this had it all; Victorian lavishness, zombies, an amazing main character, mystery, romance, and suspense.
The main character bloomed at a steady pace. The writing was absolutely lovely. Dennard is very eloquent and descriptive and it comes together quite nicely.
I sincerely have no complaints.
Something Strange and Deadly is a must-read!
Overall, I'm giving this book a 5/5 because of the perfect mixture of steampunk, zombies, and Victorian elements, and the wild adventure that Eleanor embarks on.
Eeeeep!! Signed swag!
P.S. The sequel, A Darkness Strange and Lovely, hits bookshelves July 23, 2013!
